Family Support & Respite
Respite involves 24-hour in-house care, on a temporary basis, for a child with or without the family staying
Respite care is intended to provide family caregivers with time for rest and renewal, which can be especially important for parents or caregivers who care for children with a progressive life-threatening illness. Respite visits also provide an opportunity for ongoing evaluation of a child's health, and access to supportive counselling.
Respite care can be booked with the Intake Coordinator for up to twenty (20) nights per year per family. This respite time is used so parents are able to book holidays or attend clinic appointments at hospitals, or for family emergencies when a caregiver is not available.
